How Sweet It Is gift card holders

Hi crafters,

This weekend I made 18 gift card holders using just 3 sheets of Designer Series Paper (DSP). I chose to make some Birthday ones using the How Sweet It Is DSP. They are really easy and quick to make, although making 18 at once did take some time 😂

Here is the recipe for them

Equipment

  • Stampin' Trimmer (129722)
  • Bone Folder (102300)
  • Paper Snips, to fussy cut images on DSP (103579)
  • Stampin' Pierce Mat (126199)
  • Punches, dies, stamps, etc

Materials

  • 6" (16.2cm) x 4" (10.2cm) Designer Series Paper
  • 6" (16.2cm) x 4" (10.2cm) Whisper White or Very Vanilla, or any other light coloured cardstock
  • Tear and Tape (138995)
  • Embellishments, whatever takes your fancy

Instructions

1. Cut your sheet of DSP to 5¾" (14.6cm)  x 4" (10.2cm) and then score at 2½" (6.4cm) and again at 5" (12.7cm) on the long side.
2. Fold along the scored lines and burnish these folds with a Bone Folder.
3. Apply Tear and Tape just to the edges of the small flap (the section in blue on the image) to form a small pocket for the gift card to slot in. This small flap can then be folded up and stuck in place.
4. Use a corner punch to round the corners at the top of the gift card holder.
5. Add a strip of Tear and Tape to the top edge so that the holder can be sealed after the gift card has been inserted.
6. Create labels or stamped images, when stamping use a Stampin' Pierce Mat to get a crisper stamped image, or both, to decorate the front of the holder.

Labels to decorate the front
7. Stamp "To" and "From" on a 1½" (3.8cm) x 2" (5.1cm) piece of light coloured cardstock and adhere to the back of the gift card holder.

"To" and "From" for the back
8. Decorate the front of the holder with the labels and embellishments.
3 of the finished products
When I was making mine I did them production style, so first I cut out a whole bunch of cupcakes from a sheet of How Sweet It Is DSP, I cut out gumball machines too but when it came time to put everything together the gumball machines were too tall 😕

Fussy cut gumball machines and cupcakes
I then cut up 3 sheets of 12" x 12" DSP to make the 18 gift card holder bases.

After I had everything cutout and ready to go I set to work assembling them all and I think they turned out really well.
